Jetfighter 2015 is the latest and last in a series of flight simulator/ battle games, one of the longest running games series, with around eight editions being released since its origins in 1988. The game titles are as follows: Jetfighter, Jetfighter II: Advanced mission disk (this was an expansion pack rather than a new game, including 125 new missions and unlocking the Lockheed F-22 Lightning Advanced Fighter to full playability), Jetfighter III (this game was re-released as Jetfighter III Classic some years later), Jetfighter III: Enhanced Campaign Disk (again, more of an expansion pack), Jetfighter: Full Burn, Jetfighter IV: Fortress America, Jetfighter (the original game) was released for palm Organiser in 2000, Jetfighter V: Homeland Protector and, finally Jetfighter 2015.
Each game follows the rise of terrorism and each player works to combat it in their own way. The previous games are fairly realistic, being set in the past and based, however loosely, on real life events and terror attacks. Jetfighter 2015 is actually set in the future, when the war on terror is mainly won. However, powerful drug cartels are anxious to upset the balance of power by striking a blow at the heart of the USA. The player's task is to defeat the evil drug barons, who are surprisingly powerful, with plenty of money and seemingly unlimited cash. The planes, being futuristic, can be made to hover or can burst forward in jet mode, both modes of play being useful for manoeuvring around the battle area and for precise aiming when necessary. The player is on a solo mission which means that all the work is down to them, but also means that he or she can shoot down anything that moves without worrying about being the cause of friendly fire incidents. The player must keep a wary eye out for enemy attacks from helicopters, submarines and even trucks, all of which can seem to pop out of nowhere to attack the player.
- A fun, action-packed flight simulator
- Set in the future so no need to be bound by modern capabilities
- The lack of realism saw the game being the last in the series and something of a commercial failure
